God
A name we give
To a Mystery
Inexpressible.
God, you are more than a name to me.
You are the essence of all that is, its sources,
its eternal spring.
You are a precious companion, present across
all the years of my life
And there in my future.
God A person we know Invisibly Intimately
God, you are not invisible to me.
You are present in all that I see around me.
You are bird and flower, leaf and tree, ocean and cloud.
And shining intimately in all that is.
God
A reality we experience
Imperceptibly
Individually
God, you are more real to me than life itself.
You give me a sense of my own being.
Union of human and divine in one person.
And bringing me into fuller experience of yourself.
God
A community of persons
Flowing, dancing
Relationally
God, you are holy wholeness.
No part of what we know is outside of you.
You are one, yet three, one yet many
Dancing with us in our way into the future.
God
A fire at work
Eternally
Infinitely
God, you are flame and fire,
warming, melting, purifying,
You are the fire from which all things began.
You are at all times and in all places.
We will meet you wherever our path leads.
God
Incarnate
In a stable bed
And in every living thing
God, tiny, vulnerable babe.
Born in the humblest of circumstances.
Born anew every day in each conception, each bud and flower.
I bring gifts of gold frankincense and mhyrr
May I know this God
Today and every day
Personally, privately
Consciously and Communionly.
I know you,
and there is such a strange sense of unknowing
As each day comes and each evening passes.
Until the end of this earthly life,
I worship you.
